Pseudorealist Renderings

After a span of two years Devajyoti Ray, is putting up another solo show in the capital.
In 2003, when Devajyoti Ray had introduced his new style of Pseudorealism, it had created a kind of sensation in the art world. Veterans like Praful Dhanukar and Balraj Panesar welcomed the new artist with open arms. Dhanukar went on to describe him as another Hussain in the making. Balraj Panesar too described as “the most original artist of the new generation”
Critic Sumeet Mukherjee described him as “the most promising”. Originality is what attracted the attention of most art critics in India. Henri McLeod, later took Ray’s works to wider audience in Europe and since then Ray never had to look back.

The past few years had been very eventful for Ray as his paintings reached many countries, including some important museums like the Wash Academy, USA and the Fine Arts Museum, Cuba.

Ray is now coming with another traveling show the first leg of which will be presented at New Delhi’s Sridharani Gallery. The exhibition is then to move to Mumbai and then to Dubai.
The New Delhi show will feature 20 of Ray’s Pseudorealist renderings, covering various aspects of the Indian life, both imaginary and real. The show will be on from 5th to 15th October, 2009.

Expressions of Our Times

Galerie Art Eterne is coming forward with a show of sixty paintings of some of the best names in New Delhi's Art field. They include stalwarts like Sanjay Bhattacharya, Devajyoti Ray and Laxman Aley alongside emerging names like Vijender Sharma, Anand Goswami, Ajay Jharotia and abstractionist Raushanallah Y. two of New Delhi's old school artists Jai Jharotia and Niren Sengupta are also in the show.

The show is curated by AR Raju who has written a phenomenal piece for introduction to the show. The write-up is also like to acquire appreciation form the art lovers.

The show will be held at New Delhi's prestigious Visual Art Gallery situated within the precincts of India Habitat Centre. The show will be held from 27 to 37 May.

Galerie Art Eterne is holding 2009 inaugural show at Lado Sarai from 25th January to 10th February. The show will feature almost all the major Indian artists including veterans like MF Husain, Jogen Chowdhury, Anjolie Ela Menon, and contemporaries like Laxma Aley, Devajyoti Ray, Sudip Roy and Chintan Upadhyay.

The Show is supposed to be indicative of the trends for the year. Accordingly it is curiously titled "First Rattle.........before the momentum of the new year takes over."
